I really wanted to give my followers relaxation on a plate! In fact, I pushed myself to deliver the absolute best stress management and self-care possible. I ended up making things too complex and complicated. So, I’ve revised my system of production so that I can consistently give you the content that will take you from burnout to balance. I have also revised one of my offers to make things easier for you to get results that make a difference.
Life is truly one long lesson. Isn’t it?
About Sir Richard Branson
Sir Richard Branson the billionaire who is part of the space race has learned many lessons from epic fails. We all know that he is the founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic Airlines. Sir Richard dropped out of school at the age of 16 to start Student Magazine.
The magazine made very little money and was sinking. As a result, Sir Richard shifted gears and revamped his outlook to start a discount mail order record company. He named it Virgin Records.
Always looking for the next best thing, he started an airline with no experience and one plane. The maiden flight of Virgin Atlantic Airlines almost sunk his vision. A flock of birds flew into the engine damaging the plane. Without a plane, he could not get his airline certified. He was also scrapped for cash. The roadblock did not deter him. He revamped his business and pulled in venture capitalists. Virgin Atlantic Airlines flew again.
The Branson empire has had it share of epic failures. Some you probably never heard of like, Virgin Cars, Virgin Cola, Virgin Brides, and Virgin Digital.
Billionaires are billionaires because although they have many failures, they continue to try. I am not a billionaire or close to being one. I am simply a hardworking entrepreneur who is learning from those who have been successful in their pursuits.
Then There is Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey’s name is synonymous with daytime talk shows. Early in her career, she was a co-anchor on a primetime news show. The show failed. Ms. Winfrey was blamed for the show’s poor ratings and was demoted. Ms. Winfrey continued to work hard and used this lesson to become the premier host of her own daytime show.
She did not stop. Ms. Winfrey developed a cable television network. The network seemed destined for failure. Instead of throwing in the towel, she revamped the programming and began collaborating with other creatives. The network is stronger and boasts a stable and growing viewership.
Where I Failed
My epic failure is unrelated to money or fame. It boils down to my not practicing what I preach. I was so busy writing, developing, and posting that I forgot to “take good care.” I created lots of work for myself and did not work smarter. Do you do that too? My name should have been changed to Hammy the Hamster because I was running on a wheel and could not get off.
Then summer arrived. My brain was fried. I needed to rest, renew, and rejuvenate. So, that is what I did. The stress management consultant took a break, but I didn’t tell anyone. Sometimes you want to get away quietly. Quietly disappearing from social media often causes confusion. Many of you may have looked for new blogs, posts, or podcast recordings only to find them sporadically.
While I was not burned out, I felt that I needed a break. So, I took some time to listen, revamp my processes and pull in new collaborators. These are the same actions Sir Richard and Ms. Winfrey took. The result? An epic failure that turned into an opportunity to learn, grow, and expand wisely.
You will soon hear about some of the new resources I have to share with you. Thanks for continuing this journey with me. As always “take good care.”
