I tried a little experiment. Before I share it, I would like to tell you about one of our daughters. Our 18 year old daughter is like the bunny that keeps going and going and going. It seems as if she never stops. Between studying, school activities, weekend work and socializing, our daughter literally keeps it moving.
She has been traveling recently visiting college campuses. This past weekend, her return flight was changed several times due to inclement weather. She arrived at the Jacksonville Airport at 11:30 pm. Her dad and she arrived home at 1 AM. She looked and sounded tired, but she had to complete an assignment before midnight the following night.
Our daughter has always had a lot of energy. She enjoys life and does not want to miss a moment. When she was a baby, she hated to go to sleep. She fought sleep.
I remember having to take her into a dark, quiet room away from family gatherings to get her to fall asleep. I also remember taking a picture of her sprawled over a broom asleep in the great room after playing to exhaustion. Now that she is older and more mature, she decides her bedtime and the amount of sleep she gets. The challenge of falling asleep and the allure of her cell phone and social media makes me wonder if she is getting enough restful sleep.
When our daughter goes to college in the fall, she will have to make decisions that maintain balance between her academics, social life and sleep. Falling asleep and getting a restful night’s sleep can be difficult, especially in a new environment. So to be proactive and I asked her to try one of my new adult bedtime stories. She signed up for the Happy People Sleep Well 7 Day Challenge and received the bonus adult bedtime story.
I wrote and recorded a series of bedtime stories for adults because I know plenty of adults who have sleep problems. They complain of having trouble falling asleep or waking up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep.
My bedtime stories use principals of mindfulness, deep breathing and stretching to cultivate a relaxed body and mind. The first series includes innocuous stories about a woman who goes camping with her husband. As the story is read, the main character goes through relaxation activities. The listener is encouraged to participate along with the main character. Each story is approximately 20 minutes long and may be looped as needed. The stories fit nicely into a consistent bedtime routine.

I asked our daughter to listen to the bonus story and give me feedback. The next morning, she said “I fell right to sleep.” “I started listening and the next thing I remember is waking up this morning.” “I even knocked my computer off the bed and I didn’t know it.”
“Was it good?” I asked.
“Yes, Mommy! It was good. Like I said, I was gone!”
It worked for our 18 year old, now I would like to give you an opportunity to try it for yourself. There are two ways to access the bonus bedtime story for free.
