Saturday is Side Hustle Day at For Real Social Workers Online Magazine. We are celebrating the driven professionals who have a 2nd job, part-time gig or side hustle. While a full-time job provides safety, security and stability, a 2nd job provides a means to realize additional needs, wants or dreams.
Social Work Professionals have various reasons for supplementing their income. The additional income I earn through my part-time private practice/consultancy has funded home repairs, high school and college expenses, date nights out and a fabulous trip to Italy and Greece.
There are also many ways to supplement a social work income. I will share more in July when I release new resources for those of you who are interested in learning how I have increased my own social work income.
Social workers are not the only professionals who have 2nd jobs, part-time gigs or side hustles. Teachers supplement their incomes with summer teaching contracts. Artists provide art lessons in addition to selling their artwork. Some professionals turn their individual interests, skills and abilities into money earning ventures. We have to work our part-time gig when we are away from our full-time job. This means that Saturday provides prime time for doing so.
I woke up at 5:15 this morning and was inspired to write this post. Yesterday evening I attended an event culminating the work I completed for a contract for services. In the weeks to come, I will put the finishing touches on several resources in which I share how I have used 2nd jobs, part-time gigs, and side hustles to increase my own social work income.
So, what about you? How do you supplement your social work income? Have you or someone you know successfully maintained additional work? If so, give yourself, friend or your colleague a shout-out. Go to the Real Social Workers Online Magazine Facebook page and post your or their 2nd job, part-time gig or side hustle. Remember to tag your colleagues or friends in the post.
Enjoy and as Always Take Good Care
